January marks the start of a new hobby year. This is the first in a series of monthly reflections where I will share what I got done on the painting table and the gaming table each month.
Completed This Month
I managed to start the year strong, completing the last parts of a Mordheim warband and some Goliath reinforcements for an upcoming Necromunda campaign. Admittedly I was not starting with grey plastic for most of the Goliaths, but I did rework the proportions on the Trukk and finished off the biker bases.

Work in Progress
I have started on the Gnashtooth for my Kruleboyz. This Kruleboyz project has been great at pushing me out of my comfort zone. I am using an approach heavily inspired by Marco Frisoni, which leans pretty heavily on airbrushing and oil paints.
Games Played
I managed to get in two nights of Mordheim this month, and I have a battle report up for one of them. The second game night was the finale scenario for the campaign, a 2v2v1 against some dug-in Dwarfs with an Ogre. The game involved lots of bouncing off immoveable objects. We were playing with random happenings and had an angry Sister of Sigmar show up. I threw 3 of my swordsmen into her but the dice were not in my favor and after 6 attacks she was still standing. Ooft. The Ogre also put in a lot of work blocking a tower entrance while putting attackers on their back.
I also got in two Shadowdark RPG sessions - I need to share photos of my Shadowdark character, it is a Reaper halfling mini I did quickly in December and it was one of the most fun things I painted all last year.
Next Month
Coming up in Feb we have the kickoff of the first Exiles Necromunda campaign of 2026, where my Goliaths will be continuing their run through the Aranthan Succession campaign series. My Goliaths had mixed luck with the injury table last campaign, so I look forward to seeing how they fare in this outing.
Hobby-wise I will be continuing my 2026 push to finish off works in progress, with a push to get my Kruleboyz Spearhead complete.
